Answer: Please see the flyer for details. The event starts at 10:15 AM on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16th 2024. It will be held at Burning River Adventures, 2025 Munroe Falls Avenue Cuyahoga Falls OH 44221. Please Click here to get the exact pin.
Light Snacks Start at 10:15 AM and conclude at 10:50 AM
Kayaking shuttles leave at 11:00 am sharp. Arrival at least 15 minutes prior to the departure of shuttles is required
Filling out all disclaimer forms prior to arrival is also required. Without forms being complete, they do not let guests on to the shuttles
Once shuttles leave, there is no recourse to any remedial action for the Kayakers. As such, timely arrival is key.
Answer: We have reserved a shelter structure from the city which is next to the venue. The structure already has tables and benches. For those who are kayaking, we recommend bringing some key personal supplies:
Zip-Lock Bags to Keep your wallet, phone and car keys dry while kayaking
Extra change of clothes and towel in case one gets wet
Sunglasses and sunscreen for a sunny day
Poncho in case it is cloudy and rainy
Beach chairs if you care to sit at the river bank
Answer: Everybody’s comfort level is different. But in general, we found when we last held this event in 2022, many community members with zero past experience were quite comfortable Kayaking for the first time. They enjoyed thoroughly. With mandatory life jackets and knee deep shallow water in many parts of the Kayaking route, the experience was smooth. Having said that, such a decision is very personal.
Answer: Below is a brief description of each ticket and what is included:
Meal Only Ticket: Upon arrival, a light snack is available. Later in the afternoon, once all the Kayakers are back, there is a light, boxed lunch included. This ticket does not include any actual kayaking. It is for guests who wish to join but not Kayak.
Tandem Kayak Ticket: Includes Meal Plus one seat in a Tandem, double capacity kayak
Single Kayak Ticket: Includes Meal Plus one seat in a single occupancy kayak
Answer: Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. The entire planning is based on people count.
Answer: While we are not anticipating bad weather that time of the year, it is truly a good idea to be prepared for all eventualities. Please see Terms and Conditions section from the Kayaking Vendor (Link above). They reserve the right to cancel the event for weather reasons or any other reason. But they have been clear. In case of bad weather, they generally do not cancel due to rain alone. They cancel if there is both rain and a storm happening specifically at the Kayaking venue. If the Kayaking vendor cancels for any reason, one of two outcomes can result:
The event converts to a picnic at the park, no Kayaking. Since we have a reserved shelter, we can all sit beneath the canopy, protected from the rain. In such a case, there will be a partial refund only for the Kayakers
If we have the time and ability to cancel the whole thing timely, we will try and then do our best to get everyone a full refund
Of the two above choices, which option gets chosen will depend on the circumstances surrounding events of that time. Kindly request you to be ready for either.
Answer: Upon arrival, a light snack is available. Then all the Kayakers leave for their activity. The non-Kayaking participants can stay back and play cards, socialize. After the Kayakers return (roughly 1.5 Hours), there is a light, boxed lunch. Guests are invited to stay, socialize and eat lunch together. Or, alternately, if they wish to get on with father’s day, they can take their respective boxed lunches to go.
